Including seventy dancers, artists and singers, Sasha Waltz & Guests explore in Dialogue 09- New Museum the still empty spaces of the New Museum on the Isle of Museum in Berlin. The house will finally reopen in autumn 2009 after being closed for 60 years. Namely on that day exhibits of the Egypt Museum as well as a papyrus collection and pieces of the Museum of anamnesis and early history will be displayed. The renovation took almost 10 years to be completed. Before the reopening takes place, and right after the building has finished being built, Sascha Waltz, supported by the Schering donation, presents an exceeding temporary “exhibition” in the barely empty rooms of the multilayer museum. The exhibition will take place from 18th to 30th of March.
The artist herself was born in Karlsruhe in 1983 and has been working in Berlin since 1991. The mix of fine arts and architecture has particularly embossed her work right from the start. She said the award she was given for “Architect beneath choreographers” was due to her talent for building, which in this case, has no stage rooms at first.
Sasha Waltz & Guests was founded in 1993 by Sasha Waltz and Jochen Sandig in Berlin. Since that time more than 150 artists, architects, arterial artists, choreographers, filmmakers, bandsman and dancers from 25 different countries have played a part as “guests”. The current repertoire involves 16 plays.
Arranging 120 performances worldwide every year, Sasha Waltz & Guests is one of the most popular international culture companies.
The moments of transition especially anger Waltz eminently and encourage her to carry out some work in a building. In 2006, she developed the project “Dialogue 06- Radiale System” in the barely finished Radialsystem V. Dancers, artists and singers furnished the whole house for a couple of hours.
The visitors are able to move freely through the rooms whereas the dancers of Sasha Waltz & Guests as well as the soloist ensemble kaleidoscopic, the vocal consort Berlin and many more companions act out their feelings.
