Currently, no you're not, but I'm sure you'll learn. At present, your writing is very immature. There's way too much telling, instead of showing, the reader in this extract – clunky exposition.

It's also very melodramatic and cheesy – the dialogue is all very soap-operaish and unrealistic and screaming to the sky in agony and bullet-sized tears are far too over the top. You need to learn a bit of subtlety and variation in pace and intensity.

Phrases like 'he begged in a pained face' don't even make sense. Did you mean 'voice' instead of 'face'? Moreover, you've repeated a [...]

One of the fondest memories that I have of my mom is her love of flower gardening! Our yard was in bloom from early spring until the first frost. One part of our yard wasa huge plot of Cannas. They were at least six feet tall and had huge colorful flower heads! My two friends andI would have tea parties right in the middle of these lovely flowers. It was a magical time.Thanks, Cindi

An hour from home is most definetely away: I'm glad you had that chance! In my experience medicinal plants and herbs can be more tricky than any other plants: in the right soil and climate, they behave almost weed-like, while in the wrong setting they won't thrive at all. I'd start from learning about your soil, and then about herbs! Enjoy the rest of your time off.
