Who doesn’t enjoy a delectable cup of coffee? Although many of us grab coffee on the run from Starbucks and cafes, we still want a good cup of coffee at home, and also the option to offer our guests a great cup of coffee. Choosing a good coffee machine is not that easy, as there are several types of coffee machines that brew coffee in different ways. Following is a guide to start your search for a coffee maker.

Types of Coffee Makers

Coffee Makers brew coffee in different ways. Historically, there have been coffee machines that perk, drip, use a filter system, brew, boil or steam. Your coffee will turn out different depending on the kind of coffee maker you use.

The most popular household coffee machine is the drip coffee machine. You can make a moderately good cup of coffee with these machines. However, drip coffee makers are meant to make more cups of coffee, instead of just one or two. It is important to have an adequate amount water and grinds so that the water will reach the temperature for correct brewing. Drip coffee machines also have different features, depending on price. Some have a thermal carafe which can keep the coffee warm and tasty.

Other coffee machines include the vacuum coffee machine. This is a stove top model in which water is heated in a bottom glass pot, and the water boils up into a funnel and mixes with the grinds. It has an unique and different shape, and it brews a flavorful and rich cup of coffee.

Percolator coffee machines became popular in the 1920’s. Though still acquirable today, these coffee machines are not as common as other models. Coffee is boiled through the perking process, and the taste isn’t consistent.

The French Press is a manual coffee machine. Boiling water is combined with coffee grounds that are placed in a carafe. The mixture is stirred and set aside to steep. Ultimately, a plunger is pressed down to force the coffee mixture to rise to the top and be poured.

Espresso machines are of various types. Espresso makers can steam, pump, or have a piston-style device. The steam and pump methods are automatic, while the piston-style machines use a manual technique to push water through the coffee grounds.

Price

coffee machines have a wide range of prices, from around $20 for the simplest coffee machine to prices for Espresso machines that can be over $1,000. Average prices for coffee machines range from around $50 to $200. Visit wize.com/coffeemakers for a complete selection of coffee machines and prices to fulfil your coffee needs.

The coffee machines consumer site wize.com/coffeemakers provides an overall rating of each model, and you are able check out the individual reviews behind this rating.

Technical Specifications

The technical specifications of coffee machines will vary depending on type, model and price. Basic drip coffee machines are easy to use with simple on / off switches, while a $500 espresso coffee machine may come with a grinder, timer, cup warmer, and be self-cleaning.

Where to Shop

Coffee Makers are sold in many retails outlets, including department stores and appliance stores. However, considering the large number of models and price ranges, it is best to look around online first where there is a wealth of information on the latest coffee machines. I'm really looking forward to this in the spring and summer. Being able to sit out on my porch and look out at the lake with good cup of coffee. Or in my back yard with all the trees and bunnies!! I can't wait! If only I could do something about that road that goes right between me and my beautiful lake! Someday I'll have woods and a lake all to my self!

Chacha, yeah if yh and I ever get a dog, we will probably be aiming to search for one online first. In fact my brother has done that before in the past but could not find any, so he had to buy from the pet farm.

Kaykay seems to be back to normal again and the pet farm has collected her back from the vet. Phew, hopefully she is back to her normal active self. Haha.

What i like from my local coffee place (cafe Myriade in Montreal, canada): * the coffee is perfect * they sell the coffee you drink (49th Parallel roaster, always 3 or 4 days old since the roasted date) * they have different coffee preparation (espresso [including cappu, latte, etc], french press, vacuum pot, moka pot, drip, thats all?) * they *want* to talk about coffee with you * great price (2.50$can for an espresso double, 3.50$ cappu/latte, 8$can for a siphon) * they grind the coffee as they make the coffee (no pre-grind) * they change the coffe in the [...]

Holy shit the level of epic-ness in your advice is through-the-roof. I’m going to go on amazon.com to find a timed-brew coffee maker and set it up in my room. Any recommendations? I recently discovered your technique of leaving the blinds open, that’s a great suggestion. I’ve been sleeping at 3-4am and waking up around 11am-12pm on average for the past 2 months…. doesn’t help that my earliest class is at 12:30pm. Long story short my schedule has been FUCKED UP and I fucking MISS the mornings. Thanks for the tip, you have given me a legit booster.

I need a good cup of coffee BEFORE I am able to jump anywhere. Love the song, Bob and thanks for a very entertaining performance. You can’t beat the blues. Hugs, Jan

They also said that they will be installing a fancy new filter system that must meet state guidelines, and complained that the county was requiring them to have the county staff consult on the type of filter and design of the system, at (I believe they said) a rate of $160 per hour for these county services. If that’s true, I can see how that seems a bit excessive. It seems like the owners should be able to install it, or hire someone to install it, and then the county would inspect it to make sure it meets the standards [...]
